All music artists want to promote themselves, and a way of doing this is by releaseing a music video. Each artist has a image that they have constucted through music videos, live performances, newspaper publicity, album art, public events ect. A artists image forms a product to sell to the public. Having a music video online or on music channels promotes the artist and their music. The more people who hear and see your music videos the more records you will sell. Artists have realised this and now put lots of money into music videos. Another word for a artists image is star vehicle, this bascially means that artists use their music videos as a vecicle to change their image. As many artists like Madonna change their image every album, having a music video is a way of showing the public what their new image is. They also use public appearences and magazine front covers to show the pulic their new image.
